Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a from Traditional Chinese Medicine which involves using fine flexible needles, applied to specific areas of the body. Specialist acupuncture practitioners are trained to stimulate these key points with the needles, this causes the body to release hormones which can help with pain or discomfort. Research in to the efficacy of acupuncture is increasing all the time. There is good research to support acupuncture for:

If you wish to book an appointment for Acupuncture please ensure you inform our reception staff, to ensure you are booked in with a physiotherapist trained in specialist acupuncture treatments. Two of our therapists are Joanne and Adam are trained in Acupuncture and have completed AACP (UK) accredited courses, so be sure to ask for them.

Dry Needling

Often mistaken for acupuncture, dry needling is clinically quite different in its treatment objectives. Sometimes it is referred to as myofascial dry needling, but essentially this is the same thing. Dry needling is used to treat pain and movement impairments caused by abnormal functioning of the muscles.

As experts in anatomy and physiology, physiotherapists are well positioned to be able to provide dry needling, however additional post graduate education and training is required in order to safely perform dry needling. At BounceBack Physiotherapy all of our physiotherapists are able to provide dry needling having completed the necessary post graduate requirements.
